Iran becomes world s second leading producer of construction stones |
Coming second only to China, Iran is a world major producer of construction stones. Therefore, even small investment in the industry could yield high value added revenues, an official with the Industries and Mines Organization of Lorestan Province noted.
Referring to the rich deposits of construction stones at the mines across this western province of Iran, the official said that the mineral accounted for around 90 percent of the region's reserves.
Unfortunately, due research have not been carried out on the issue therefore, relating bodies have decided to conduct a thorough geological and exploratory studies on the region's construction stones mines, he stated.
Currently, some 2.5 million tons of raw stones is produced from the mines in Lorestan Province some of which are exported, he announced adding that around 400 stone cutting and processing plants are operating in the region. |
