BLUE PEARL History
The Labradors of the Larvik area originated dvring an intense magmatic period occurring in the Oselo region about 270 million years ago. They are believed to have been emplaced at depths of more than 3Km below the surface ofth sea.Owing to vast erosion these intrusions are now well exposed in the greater Oslo region and are accsessible to quarrying.
Although the Labradors commonly occur as grey,grey-blue or blue rock,even greenish and reddish varieties are found.The different colours reflect the chemical composition and amount of feldspar present in the rock.As a result of the crystal latice of the dominant micoperthite feldspar,theLabradors have an astonishing,unique appearance expressed by their intense mother-of-pearl lustres.The colour of the Labrdors resembles,but is not,that of the mineral labradorite (plagioclase),hence the name.The vivid,shimmering and intense colours make the Labrador one of the world's most beautiful stones.
Blocks of high and uniform quality are supplied from this quarry.Blue Pearl LL is characterised by its medium-sized deep-blue feldspar crystals.

The Arent and the rest of the Blue Pearl quarries are located in Tvedalen,approx.20km from Larvik's modern export harbour.By use of wire sawing in our production,we achive better results.

Blue Pearl LL from stskogen and Utklev have crystals of a bright and shimmering blue.As in all our quarries ,our blocks are split at an angle that releases the crystals' most stunning refraction and lustre.

Blue pearl NP has large crystals on a deep blue background.The quarry has previously supplied stone to many famous buildings, among them the Mosque of the Sultan of Brunei.

Blue Pearl Fjord FJ from Hauane is a variant of Blue Pearl with a large content of a type of crystal that gives it its characteristic steel-blue lustre. Theis is a Labrador of good ,even quality,well suited for larger projects.Lundhs Labrador is the sole producer of this material.

Stalaker's Marina Blue Star is a special material unique to Lundhs Labrador on the world market, characterised by large blue feldspar crystals.Otherwise this stone has the same character as our other Labrador and is sought after for facing stone and funerary works as well as by artists for sculptures.

This e variety differs from the classic Blue Pearl by having larger crystals and a bright light blue colour.TFVand TFM,which are produced exlusively by Lundhs Labrador,are in demand worldwide because of their stunning appearance and unique character. We have a total of three quarries of Royal Blue that provide nearly identical qualities and colour.
